Thank you for listening; I'm glad you appreciated them.
Yes, there are definitely songs that cross that line and I would definitely find it challenging to write about them. If you do, I'd be curious what you would say and how you would approach it.
I thought, for example, that this post about The Knack, did a good job of foregrounding the sexism of the band as well as the appeal of the music, and is well written. But, for my, I would not have confidence in my own ability to find the appropriate balance: https://joebonomo.substack.com/p/a-long-way-from-the-valley
Thanks for sharing that link and providing that example. Honestly, until I write something, I never know how I'm going to approach it or what I'm going to say. So if I write about this at some point, it will definitely be interesting to explore it, as there are a lot of issues involved with the role of the artist, who decides what is crossing the line, and all that. So we shall see! And I will definitely be interested in your thoughtful reactions.
Great songs, Nick. Every one of them was impressive.
I've always loved Crystal Gayle and this song. (Her hair used to mesmerize me.)
Your footnote about creepy songs. There are quite a few that cross the line. I've thought of writing a post on that at some point!

I really liked Crystal Gayle back in the day. Don't remember this song though!
Bjork and PJ Harvey?!?!?!? That was incredible ❤️❤️❤️ and loved the David Bowie and Gail Ann Dorsey!
I love that you posted two different videos from the Staves to demonstrate the difference in using one mic vs individual mics! So interesting!
I know, right? :)
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed them, and that Bjork / PJ Harvey video was such a find. I had no idea that happened.
